Rodrigo Guzmán
Opening Concert Tango, Salsa & Fandango, 31. July 2021, 8 pm K3N
Born in Concepción, Chile, to a family devoted to traditional music, Rodrigo Guzmán took his first steps as a musician in his family environment. After he finished his studies in Chile with summa cum laude he received a scholarship granted by the DAAD and continued his studies at the Musikhochschule Franz Liszt in Weimar under Prof. Thomas Müller-Pering and obtained the title of Konzertexamen.
As a member of the ensemble Cuarteto de Guitarras de Chile he traveled to several countries within Latin-America and Europe, performing works of contemporary Chilean composers.
Two albums have been recorded: The first one consists of chamber music and the second one is a recording with the Symphony Orchestra of Chile, including orchestra works of the Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo.
In parts of Guzmán’s musical oeuvre, he presents himself as a soloist, interprets music in theatre plays, participates in recordings of contemporary composers and forms part of chamber music groups. Nowadays, inspired by the Latin-American folklore, he dedicates part of his professional life to the adaptation and creation of a new repertory for guitar. His musical work includes compositions for guitar solo, duo and quartet, chamber music for various instruments and guitar with orchestra.
