Open Source 2The ensemble Open Source Guitars showcases the sound spectrum of the guitar in all its diversity and is constantly searching for new possibilities of musical expression. Its unusual repertoire features classical concert guitars, western and electric guitars, as well as historical and prepared instruments.
Founded in 2008 at the Trossingen University of Music by the local Professor of Guitar, Michael Hampel, OSG quickly attained international renown. Together with their conductor Helmut Oesterreich, they realized two concerts tournees throughout Brazil (2012) and Mexico (2015).
In 2014, they gave their newcomber debut at the renowned Nürtingen International Guitar Festival. Also in 2014, the ensemble worked out new, experimental music for the silent film classic "Nosferatu" by Friedrich Murnau. With this performance, the enesemble adds an additional dimension of most intense drama and thrill to the cinematic experience. Recently, OSG has been invited to present this production at the Film Institutes in Potsdam, Babelsberg and Frankfurt.
In 2012, the OSG was included into the state support program "Innovations- und Qualitätsfonds" (IQF) for innovative and excellent projects at universities and colleges in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg.
